Courtney Kramer, a Republican running for district attorney in Fulton County, Georgia, has vowed to end Fani Willis’ prosecution of rapper Young Thug.
The rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, has been in prison for the past two years on RICO charges while his trial continues, which began in November 2023. In fact, the prosecution has dragged on and is now Become According to the website Hot New Hip Hop, it is the longest trial in Georgia history.
Young Thug was arrested in May 2022 along with 27 other people, all of whom were indicted on Georgia RICO conspiracy and street gang charges.
But Kramer wants to end all of this and set the Grammy-winning rapper free.
In a campaign letter posted to X/Twitter last week, Cramer accused incumbent Democratic District Attorney Fani Willis of “famousness-seeking” for filing the case in the first place and vowed to voters to end the case as part of an effort to “restore justice, transparency and integrity” to the DA’s office.
“If I am elected as the next District Attorney for Fulton County, I am committed to ending this prosecution immediately,” Kramer wrote in the letter. “I will be challenging my opponent [Fani Willis] Do the same, do the right thing, end this prosecution and release the defendants in this case who are being held without bail.”

Kramer isn’t the only Republican to claim the case as its face: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has also slammed the case, claiming recently that the rapper has been treated unfairly.
“I’ve heard from other people that he’s been treated unfairly, so he needs to be treated fairly,” Trump told internet streamer Adyn Ross.
The latest development in the case was that Fulton County Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Granville was removed from the case after behaving inappropriately during meetings with prosecutors and witnesses in the case, and a new judge was appointed to the case.
