A schizophrenic campaign tries to message away its own policies

Three days after the Democratic National Convention ended and the cleanup was finished, hungover junior staffers who missed their 6:33 a.m. flight to DCA were finally limping home. Who knows how many miniature American flags found their way into their overstuffed carry-ons, but it’s safe to assume that thousands of them were blown across the floor of the now-darkened Chicago United Center.

It’s well known that Democrats love the flag, but it’s been a long time since we’ve seen so many of them.
American It happened at Democratic events. Just eight years ago, for example, an embarrassed Democratic National Committee staffer Stolen the flag from Philadelphia City Hall When someone realizes they didn’t bring their stuff.

It’s as if the party has decided to listen to former presidents who actually built and maintained a winning coalition for two terms.

And that’s not all: It’s been 12 years since delegates booed God’s name in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he hasn’t risen from the dead. But appeals to personal “faith” were made with aplomb. And that’s not all: Governor Tim Walz built his speech around (somewhat painful) football imagery, criminal prosecutions were cheered with glee, notorious white male slave owner George Washington even made a cameo, while 78-year-old President Bill Clinton is basically a time traveler from a distant, halcyon age.

As Unhard’s Emily Jasinski pointed out, even the much-touted sisterhood of girl-power feminism was shelved for another time: Virtually the only person to mention Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the glass ceiling was Hillary Clinton in “I’m with her.”

It’s as if the party has decided to listen to former presidents who actually built and maintained a winning coalition for two terms.

But despite the linguistic moderation,There will be no policy relaxation. However, there is no particular emphasis on price controls. In fact, the policy is barely mentioned anywhere. Instead, the promise seems to be that if you vote for Harris, you’re getting a good progressive agenda, with all that goes with it. There’s no reason to doubt that.

But does Harris have the charisma to do what she says? Bill Clinton was Ronald Reagan’s governor in the American South, and as president he governed on a moderate platform. Barack Obama, meanwhile, was in the Senate for only four years, during which he ran against his party on the Iraq War, but by 2008 many voters were for it. His radical roots and connections have been obscured by the passage of time and by the racial savior status projected onto him by his party allies and the corporate media.

As Matthew Continetti reminds us in the Washington Free Beacon:

Kamala Harris is not Barack Obama. She didn’t risk her career to take a stand against the Iraq War and end up siding with a political party. She’s not known for groundbreaking speeches or international bestsellers, nor did she rally a hard-fought primary campaign against a former two-term senator and first lady. She never even won a primary. She doesn’t have a clear policy and Obamacare isn’t on the horizon.

Today, Clinton’s legacy seems long gone, and a decade of anti-white violence and rising racial tensions has undermined any foolish promises of easy solutions. And unlike her successful predecessors, Harris is no blank slate. She has a long track record on the national stage, both as the nation’s most liberal senator and as vice president to the first one-term Democratic president since Jimmy Carter.

Her campaign was wise in dismissing outdated feminism, What does it offer America’s millions of disaffected men? By any standard, it is men who have been hardest hit by the nation’s changes over the past quarter century or more. This is sadly evident in every statistic about unemployment, underemployment, labor market decline, and deaths of despair.

This is a reality that shows up in the polls. Black, white and Hispanic men are all increasingly attracted to former President Donald Trump. The moral stigma that Democrats built around Trump has finally crumbled. What did the DNC say to these voters? Both CNN and MSNBC openly praised the Democratic Party’s outreach to low-testosterone men. Not true.

Last week’s change of course was a wise one, long called for by wise voices within the Democratic Party. But while it was a good move to rehire Obama’s team and finally listen to David Axelrod and James Carville, people will vote for or against their candidate and his ideas. Despite the massive publicity and Potemkin-like media campaign, Harris remains in the same weak spot she was in six weeks ago, when the party was scrambling to find someone other than her to replace the old man. The next 10 weeks will be her biggest test yet.

Trump-Kennedy alliance

Democrats spent millions of dollars trying to block Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the polls, hoping to steal votes from the Democratic candidate. In response to those efforts, Kennedy and his apparently more liberal running mate formally defected to the Democratic Party on Friday in support of Mr. Trump.

RFK’s surprisingly unorthodox (and surprisingly widespread) campaign garnered more attention than any third-party campaign since 2000. Like Vivek Ramaswami, his supporters were enthusiastic online, many of them new to politics. Were they following his followers because he’d been promised a role?

The immediate impact of the endorsement may be hard to gauge, but in a close election where Trump is still an outsider, RFK’s endorsement could have real impact.
Written in the SpectatorThe move “will provide a politically meaningful boost to the Republican campaign in several battleground states where Kennedy has won votes over the past few months,” he said. include Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia.

It turns out that if you spend enough money, some prophecies really do come true.
