Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard endorses Trump in 2024 presidential race

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, a former Democrat who left the party in 2022, announced Monday that she will support former President Trump in the November election.

Gabbard, a frequent face in conservative media, made the announcement at a Michigan National Guard Association rally, where President Trump was also speaking.

“This administration is facing multiple wars on multiple fronts in regions around the world and we stand closer to the brink of nuclear war than ever before,” Gabbard said. “This is one of the primary reasons why I am determined to do everything in my power to send President Trump back to the White House to once again serve us as Commander in Chief.”

Gabbard ran unsuccessfully in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. Since dropping out, she has left Congress, quit the Democratic Party and attended events like the Conservative Political Action Conference.

The former congresswoman has been meeting with Trump in recent weeks as part of preparations for next month’s planned debate between former President Trump and Vice President Harris.

Perhaps Gabbard’s most notable moment during her loss in the 2020 presidential election came when she took to the debate stage to attack Vice President Harris’ record as a prosecutor.

Gabbard’s endorsement came days after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ended his independent presidential bid and endorsed Trump, in a move that Kennedy’s campaign touted as a major breakthrough in the battleground state.
