Sid Eudy, who was active in the professional wrestling world under the names Sid Justice, Sid Vicious and Psycho Sid, has died at the age of 63, according to his family.
Eudy’s son, Gunnar Eudy, announced his father’s death in a Facebook post on Monday.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my father, Sid Eudy, after a multi-year battle with cancer,” the post read.
“He was a man of strength, kindness and love, and will be truly missed. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss. Details of a memorial service will be announced soon. We thank you for your support.”
Eudy is considered by many wrestling fans to be the greatest retired modern-day professional wrestler not inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Eudy was a two-time world champion in WWF (now WWE) and WCW, and was also a two-time USWA heavyweight champion.
He also had stints in New Japan Pro Wrestling and had a brief stint in ECW in 1999.
One of his most iconic moments came when he powerbombed Shawn Michaels to win the WWF Championship at Survivor Series in 1996.
In WCW in the early 1990s, Eudy was part of the legendary Four Horsemen alongside Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Barry Windham.
“If it weren’t for Sid Vicious, I don’t think me and my brother would have come to WCW,” said wrestling legend Booker T. I wrote in X’s post.
“His impact on our industry is undeniable and he paved the way for so many of us. Our deepest condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.”
Adam Pearce, current general manager of WWE RAW, said: Written“Get some rest, Sid. I’ll treasure the good times forever. Microchip pitch [David Marquez]I drove the Sheriff’s Office from Tulsa to Enid at over 100 miles per hour with lights and sirens on and was there by the time the show ended. There was never a dull moment. Life is too short. Best of luck to you.”
In addition to Gunnar, Eudie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sabrina Paige, and his son, Frank.
