‘West Wing’ star mocks actress Cheryl Hines for staying ‘silent’ after husband RFK Jr. endorses Trump

“The West Wing” star Bradley Whitford criticized actress Cheryl Hines for not speaking out against the president even though her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., voiced his support. Former President Donald Trump In the 2024 presidential election.

“Hey Cheryl Hines, well done for staying silent while your crazy husband supports a rapist who brags about stripping women of their basic rights,” the actor said. he wrote in a post tagging Hines with X.

“It's brave. It's a great example for kids. It's an icon of bravery,” he said, laughing.

The liberal actor's post was accompanied by a video of Trump bragging about his Supreme Court nominee's role in overturning Roe v. Wade.

Whitford is a longtime Democratic supporter and is one of several prominent figures who have come forward to endorse Vice President Harris after President Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.

Independent presidential candidate Kennedy announced on Friday that he was dropping his presidential bid and endorsing Trump, in a message that slammed Democrats and the media.

Appearing on the HBO comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Hines thanked her husband's supporters and called for unity after Kennedy's announcement.

“I deeply respect Bobby's decision to run on the principle of unity. Over the past year and a half, I have met amazing people from all political parties – Democrats, Republicans and Independents. My experience is that the vast majority of people from all political parties are genuinely good people who want the best for our country and each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative and loving journey,” she wrote to X.

Kennedy also responded to the social media post, admitting that his wife was “deeply uncomfortable” with his decision, and praising her for her support.

A representative for Hines declined a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Kennedy's family has long been critical of his presidential bid, and after he endorsed Trump, his siblings released a scathing statement accusing the former third-party candidate of betraying the family's values.

Kennedy spoke on Fox News on Sunday about the backlash he has faced from his family over his politics.

“You know, my family is at the core of the Democratic Party. I have members of my family who work in the Biden administration. President Biden has a bust of my father behind the Oval Office and he's been a family friend for many years,” Kennedy told “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream.

“I understand that my family is troubled by my decision. I love them, and I feel like we were raised in an environment where we were encouraged to debate with each other, to argue intensely and passionately about things, and still love each other,” he added. “They are free to take their own positions on these issues. Many of my family members have worked with me on my campaign and support me.”

“I think we all need to learn to love each other even when we disagree,” he concluded.
