The FBI has released several photos and a press release regarding the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump that took place last month.

Pictured above is the rifle used by shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks to kill rally-attack firefighter Corey Comperatore, as well as wounding Trump and two other people in the crowd.

FBI officials, investigating the shooter's motive, have relied primarily on internet searches of the gunman to piece together a possible story and release images.
Photos of the gun show a folding butt and a bag that appears to have been used to conceal the weapon at the rally.
The FBI also released images of Crooks' trunk, which contained two “improvised explosive devices” that had several structural issues.

Finally, the FBI released images of the air conditioning unit they believe Crooks used to get onto the roof where he committed the Butler rally shooting.

Along with the released images, FBI Special Agent Kevin Rojek gave media an update on the ongoing, wide-ranging investigation.
“We have conducted nearly 1,000 interviews, executed numerous search warrants, issued dozens of subpoenas and analyzed hundreds of hours of video footage,” Rojek said.
The update also gives new insight into the mindset Crux has when preparing for an attack.
“From April to July 12, 2024, subjects searched for President Trump and President Obama's election campaigns. [Joe] Rojek added, “In the 30 days prior to the attack, the suspect conducted over 60 searches related to President Biden and former President Trump. Of particular note, our investigation uncovered specific searches on July 5th, including 'When is the Democratic National Convention' and 'When is the 2024 Republican National Convention?'”
The statement further asserts that there is no evidence of any conspiracy, either domestic or foreign.
The press release stated that the FBI “continues to work diligently to determine the suspect's motive” and concluded that it “continues to pursue all investigative leads to determine possible connections to co-conspirators.”
