Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) responded to the news that the bodies of six hostages had been found in an underground tunnel in the Gaza Strip, saying his “support for Israel is unwavering.”
in post At X, Fetterman blamed Hamas for “this entire humanitarian catastrophe.”
Fetterman's post came after it was revealed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had identified the dead hostages as Eden Yurshalmi, Carmel Gatto, Hersh Goldberg-Porin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarsi and Sergeant Orio Danino. Autopsy reports said the hostages had been shot in the head within the past 48 hours.
“Hersh Goldberg Polin, Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarsi, Oli Danino,” Fetterman wrote, “this ongoing grief and outrage was cruelly sowed on October 7th. Hamas is solely responsible for this humanitarian catastrophe, and I stand unwavering in my support of Israel.”

Y Net News Reported The bodies were “found with gunshot wounds to the head and other parts of the body,” but “there were no signs of torture” except for one of the hostages, who “showed signs of having been bound.”
Autopsies revealed that the bodies of all six hostages found and taken into custody in Gaza on Sunday had suffered gunshot wounds to the head and other parts of the body.
Autopsies revealed that they had been executed within 48 hours of being discovered, and that their bodies showed signs of neglect during their captivity.
One of the hostages had been bound, but the rest showed no signs of torture, but the condition of the bodies indicated systematic neglect, including a long period of poor hygiene, and signs of injuries sustained during the abduction that had not been treated over time.
Fetterman has been a strong supporter of Israel since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel left 1,200 people dead and more than 250 taken hostage by Hamas.
The Pennsylvania senator has repeatedly defended Israel, accusing Hamas of being “totally responsible” for the deaths of Palestinian civilians and saying Israel has “tried to minimize” the number of civilian casualties.
