1. Georgia (1-0)
It was a classic Georgia game: dynamic on offense, solid on defense and worthy of its preseason No. 1 ranking in a 34-3 thrashing of overmatched Clemson.
2. Ohio State (1-0)
Learn the name Jeremiah Smith. The rising star receiver caught six passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns in a big debut win over Akron. Former USC quarterback Matt Leinart called him a top-10 draft pick “right now.”
3. Texas (1-0)
There's not much to learn from the Longhorns' 52-0 thumping of Colorado State, and we'll likely learn a lot more about Quinn Ewers and Texas when they visit Michigan on Saturday.
4. Alabama (1-0)
No one in Tuscaloosa is nostalgic for Nick Saban from Week 1, when Alabama crushed Western Kentucky 63-0 with 600 yards of offense. The first real test will come on Sept. 14 when the Crimson Tide visits Wisconsin.
5. Ole Miss (1-0)
Some games are soft, others are the first four games on Ole Miss' schedule (Furman, Middle Tennessee State, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern). The toughest game here is Wake Forest, with the Demon Deacons picked to be 15th in the soft ACC.
6. Notre Dame (1-0)
The 10-point win at Texas A&M was Notre Dame's first road win against a Top 25 team in their season opener since beating Pittsburgh in 2005. It's hard to imagine a better way to start the year.
7. Oregon (1-0)
It was a lackluster game. Oregon couldn't run the ball and committed eight fouls in a 10-point home win over Idaho. Next up is Mountain West favorite Boise State, which could pose a threat if the Ducks repeat their disappointing performance from Saturday.
8. Michigan (1-0)
The Wolverines can only hope their offensive struggles are the result of first-game nerves from a rookie unit. They managed just 269 yards of total offense against Fresno State and have rarely been able to beat a team that performs like that. They certainly can't beat Texas, their opponent on Saturday.
9. Penn State (1-0)
The Nittany Lions have won 25 straight games led by at least a touchdown under coach James Franklin, with quarterback Drew Aller scoring three times in a stunning 22-point road win at West Virginia.
10. USC (1-0)
This wasn't the USC of the past two years under coach Lincoln Riley: solid on defense and error-avoiding on offense. This 27-20 win over LSU in Las Vegas was the most impressive win of the weekend for a team other than Notre Dame.
Heisman Watches (in alphabetical order)
QB Jackson Dart, Ole Miss
Dart outshot Furman, 76-0, but had as many touchdown passes as incompletions (five). Pretty good recipe for success.
WR/DB Travis Hunter, Colorado
Hunter also didn't leave the field in last Thursday's win over North Dakota State, playing 129 snaps and catching seven passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns while also making three tackles on defense.
QB Niko Iamareva, Tennessee
That moment was here to stay. In his first start, Iamareva threw for 314 yards in the first half, setting a Tennessee state record, and added three touchdown passes.
QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama
The five touchdowns and 279 yards in just two and a half quarters was a great start to Milroe's Heisman quest.
QB Cam Ward, Miami
The Washington State transfer made a great first impression, throwing for 385 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-17 win over rival Florida State in the Swamp.
