WCAU said the Eagles hope to have all the posters removed by Tuesday morning, but WPVI TV I spoke with at least one observer who said it may be too late.

“This image of Kamala Harris and the Eagles is imprinted on people's brains,” city resident Matilda Jones told the station, “so no matter what happens now, the psychological impact will remain. It's over now.”

“It's a very sad and tragic situation,” another city resident, Philip Carter, said in an interview with WCAU. Video Report “By definition, it's wrong… and sure they'll remove it, but it's still here. It's not going anywhere.”

It's unclear who created the posters or who paid for them, WCAU reported.

Steve Keeley WTXF Television We interviewed a man who had covered one of the posters with a copy of the Eagles' statement and called it a “fake political ad.”

WCAU said Intersection Media The New York-based company that owns the bus stops where the posters were posted released the following statement: “We are aware that several of our bus stops in Philadelphia have been vandalized and that the paid advertising copy at each bus stop has been replaced with unauthorized copy. Our bus stops typically have locks that prevent unauthorized copy from being posted by anyone other than Intersection staff, but occasionally someone finds a way to unlock the advertising box and insert unauthorized copy. In this case, the unauthorized copy alludes to the Philadelphia Eagles' endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. The Eagles and Intersection had no involvement in the creation or posting of this unauthorized copy, and we can assure you that Intersection staff will remove the advertisements as soon as possible.”

A city spokesperson also released a statement, per WCAU, saying: “These were not digital ads placed by the Harris campaign, the Philadelphia Eagles, SEPTA, the City of Philadelphia, or Intersection, the media agency responsible for transit advertising space. This was not a digital intrusion. Those responsible for the illegally placed posters entered a secure, covered shelter advertising space and placed the posters in some manner. Intersection has notified the city's Office of Transportation Infrastructure Systems (OTIS) that they will be conducting a full inventory of all bus shelters tomorrow and removing all illegal posters. The city has a process for reviewing all bus shelter advertising, and this was also not a digital advertisement.”
