Trump holds narrow lead over Harris in Michigan poll

A new local poll shows former President Trump holding a narrow lead over Vice President Harris in Michigan.

investigationA WDIV/Detroit News poll found Trump leading with 44.7 percent to Harris' 43.5 percent, with the outlet calling it a “statistically even” race in key battleground states.

Just under 5% of voters said they would vote for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who endorsed Trump and is trying to remove his name from the ballot in battleground states like Michigan, where the secretary of state has denied his request.

2.8% of Michigan voters said they would choose another third party, and 4.8% said they were undecided about who they would vote for.

Among likely voters, Harris has a slight lead with 45.7 percent, while Trump trails her with 44.1 percent among likely voters.

Trump's favorability rating has remained little changed since July, but more voters have viewed Harris favorably since she began her campaign.

Forty-two percent of Michigan voters view Trump favorably and 51% unfavorably. Harris sees similar numbers, with 43% favorable and 49.7% unfavorably. In July, her favorable rating was 37% and 47.8%, respectively.

Michigan voters are more likely to think Trump would do a better job on the U.S. economy, foreign affairs and the southern border. They say Harris would do a better job strengthening American democracy and is more trustworthy.

The poll was conducted by the Glengariff Group among 600 Michigan voters from Aug. 26 to 29, and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
