A 17-year-old suspect accused of shooting and killing San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall has been charged with three felony counts.
The teen, whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile, was charged with attempted murder with the aggravated charge of intentionally discharging a firearm, personal use of a firearm, assault with a semi-automatic rifle and attempted second-degree robbery.
The charges were filed in juvenile court, but the city district attorney's office may file a competency hearing to try him as an adult. The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at the Youth Guidance Center.

Pearsall was shot in the chest in San Francisco's Union Square on Saturday by a suspected 17-year-old boy who was trying to steal his Rolex watch.
He was in stable condition when admitted to the hospital and was released on Sunday, and practiced with his teammates on Tuesday.

Pearsall's mother, Erin, said the bullet shot her son entered his chest and exited his back without hitting any vital organs.
Suspect He was taken to hospital with Pearsall after Saturday's incident, and video from X showed Pearsall walking with paramedics to an ambulance.
As he works his way back to full fitness, Pearsall is hoping to make an impact on a talented 49ers team in his rookie year after dealing with a lingering injury during training camp that forced him to miss all three preseason games.

Pearsall has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the Niners' first four games of the season.
