President Biden responded to the Apalachee High School shooting in Georgia by pushing a range of gun control measures before the truth of the incident was known.
The Washington Post attention“Officials have not released details about the weapon used in the shooting, but Biden has called on Congress to ban assault weapons.”
Biden's full statement was posted on WhiteHouse.gov, in which he said:
After decades of inaction, Republicans in Congress must finally say “enough is enough” and work with Democrats to pass commonsense gun safety legislation. We must again ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require safe gun storage, implement universal background checks, and repeal gun manufacturer immunity. These measures will not bring back the people tragically killed today, but they will help prevent more tragic gun violence from ripping apart more families.
Again, Biden is pushing all of these gun restrictions before we even know what types of guns people have or how they can get them.
Biden also called on Congress to change the law to allow people to sue gun manufacturers, a move he has been pushing since at least Feb. 24, 2020, when he said, “I'm going to take you down,” referring to gun manufacturers.
