‘Trump Broke Her’ — Republicans Mock Liz Cheney for Endorsing Kamala Harris

Republicans on Thursday roundly mocked former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming for her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she described as a “radical liberal” just four years ago.

“As a conservative, as someone who believes in and values the Constitution,” Cheney asserted at Duke University, “I've thought deeply about this, and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not going to vote for Donald Trump, I'm going to vote for Kamala Harris.”

Cheney's announcement drew immediate backlash from conservatives, with some looking back to 2020, when Cheney called Harris a threat to democracy, and others slamming her for being an attack dog for Democrats on the partisan Jan. 6 committee.

Flashback — Liz Cheney vows to 'never vote for Donald Trump'

Mike Davis suggested the endorsement was as effective as former President Donald Trump's promotion.

“Like her father, Liz Cheney“They are the party of globalists. They are happy to send other people's children to die in war. And they are happy to replace American workers with cheap illegal immigrant labor,” he said.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) reposted a 2020 post by Cheney calling Harris a “radical liberal who will raise taxes, take away guns and health insurance, and explode the size and power of the federal government.”

“So does this mean she thinks Kamala is a conservative who wants to cut taxes, protect gun rights and reduce the size and power of the federal government?” Lee scoffed.

Joe Concha shared a Fox News post slamming Harris as a politician who supports “dangerous policies.”

Senator John Barrasso's cThe top speaker's speechwriter, Charles Correll III, said the endorsement shows Cheney's career “tipping toward a vote for Marxism.”

Social media influencer Colin Rugg succinctly accused Cheney of duplicity.

Kylie Jane Kremer, executive director of America First Women's United, said Cheney should go to prison for her work on the partisan January 6th committee.

“Trump destroyed her,” Chuck Calest said.

During her time as a member of the House of Representatives, Cheney was a controversial figure for her affiliation with House Democrats and the anti-Trump January 6th Committee.

In the spring of 2021, House Republicans removed Cheney from her position as Speaker. via A vote of no confidence. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), a staunch supporter of President Trump and his America First policies, was installed as chair.

Cheney did not want to lose her powerful position in the Republican leadership of the House of Representatives. To protect it, she reportedly met “privately” with Fox News executive Paul Ryan to bolster rumors of her removal. Breitbart News reported that Bulwark editor-in-chief Bill Kristol “acknowledged that the meeting may have been Cheney's final bid to stay in power.”

Between 2017 and 2020, Cheney's net worth may have ballooned from an estimated $7 million to more than $44 million, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics and her most recent financial disclosure documents.
“Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney are very interesting partners,” Sen. J.D. Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, said Wednesday. “They get richer when America's sons and daughters die. They get richer when America loses wars instead of winning them. They get richer when America is weaker in the world.”
