Pat McAfee and Nick Saban discussed an awkward “College GameDay” moment that went viral on social media over the weekend.
During an ESPN appearance last Saturday, the legendary Alabama head coach appeared to be upset with McAfee dancing during a commercial break, instantly creating an internet sensation as the pair made their first on-campus “Game Day” appearance together.
McAfee broached the topic with Saban on his show on Friday, resulting in another fascinating exchange between the polar opposites.
“You guys snubbed me so much,” McAfee said Friday as the two sat inside Michigan Stadium.
“I didn't know what to think,” Saban responded.
McAfee then said what the college football world expected Saban to be thinking.
“You thought I was an asshole.”
McAfee and Saban complimented each other about working together on set, but McAfee continued to joke about the meme-worthy moment.
“Are you quitting Game Day because I was dancing during the commercials?,” McAfee asked. “A lot of people on the Internet have said that.”
Saban then proved he had his own joke about the exchange.
“no, [I was] I'm wondering when you'll ask me to the dance.”
McAfee and Saban are part of a revamped “College GameDay” team that includes staples Rese Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard.
This season will mark Saban's first with the “gameday” team after stepping down as head coach of the Crimson Tide earlier this year.
On Aug. 23, McAfee admitted to drinking too much at a pub in Ireland during the former punter's own live broadcast on ESPN with Saban at his side.
Midway through the show, McAfee got up and did an Irish dance with Saban's wife, “Miss Terry.”
