Celebrity chef Guy Fieri reveals he talked with his late father through a medium

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has sought spiritual advice as he mourns the death of his late father.

In an emotional interview, Fieri, 56, spoke about how difficult it was for him to cope with the loss of his father, Jim, who died at the age of 81.

“I was a mess… There were days where I was like, 'I don't want to talk to anybody. I don't want to see anybody. Leave me alone,'” he said during an appearance on “In Depth with Graham Benzinger.”

The Food Network star went on to explain that her friend was “ironically” a psychic. Fieri said that while he didn't know his friend “really well,” he knew her well enough that she found the celebrity chef when she was in dire need of him.

Fieri recalled his conversation with the medium, saying, “Your dad is blowing up at me… Your dad is all over me about you. He just wants you to know…”

The American restaurateur noted that the media “begins to paint a picture for me where no one in the world knows what's going on.”

“It gives me goosebumps to talk about it right now,” Fieri said.

The medium also explained that while it usually takes several days to communicate with spirits, Fieri's father, Jim, contacted him just two days after his death.

“She said, 'They don't come to me like this. It usually takes five or six days.' This was like the second day,” Fieri alleged. “She said, 'He wants to get in touch with you,' so that helped.”

The “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” star now has a different perspective on his late father's funeral arrangements after seeking advice from a psychic medium.

“She's not lying. I trust Karen a lot. All the things I said I wouldn't do, I wasn't going to the cremation, I wasn't going to take him there. I wasn't going to do any of that. I was just like, 'I don't want to be involved in this.'”

“Something changed and it became something completely different… It was very strange… I was surprised at how I handled it,” he added.

“It's not that I didn't cry or scream, and it's not that I didn't regret it, it's just that it was different.”

Fieri said he has become “10 times closer” to his mother since his father's death.
