Report from The Washington PostAccording to a police report reviewed by The Associated Press, the mother of the man suspected to have attacked Apalachee High School had warned the school of an “extreme emergency” 30 minutes before shots rang out.
Associated Press (AP) Reported Annie Brown, the aunt of the 14-year-old assailant, said the boy's mother “spoke with the school counselor and urged her to find her son 'immediately' and check on him.”

A week before the shooting, Brown reportedly told relatives that the suspect was having “homicidal and suicidal thoughts.”
On September 5, 2024, the day after the Apalachee High School attack, Collin Gray, the father of the 14-year-old boy, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and second-degree murder.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) explanation The charges “arise from Mr. Gray knowingly permitting his son to possess a weapon.”
The GBI asked communities across the state to encourage “students across the state to contact school faculty and staff with any concerns they may have if they witness suspicious behavior.”
