Kathy Bates has earned a legion of fans through her award-winning performances over the decades.
The actress from “Misery” The New York Times This sees her in front of the camera following her work in the upcoming reboot of “Matrock.”
Bates, who plays attorney Madeline “Matty” Matlock on the new CBS series, acknowledged that she has reached the career peak she hoped for.

CBS describes the new TV series as “the story of Madeline, a smart septuagenarian who finds success in her younger years and decides to return to work at a prestigious law firm. Using her understated demeanor and savvy tactics, Madeline wins cases and uncovers internal corruption.”

“A funny thing happens to women as they get older: we become almost invisible, which is convenient because no one knows we're coming up,” Mattie says in the pilot.

But Bates' job takes a toll on the actress: The “American Horror Story” star, who has won dozens of accolades, including an Oscar and an Emmy, carries the burden of being obsessed with perfecting her craft.

Though Bates hopes to get her life back in some form, the “Dolores Claiborne” star admitted that as a child she “never really thought about being a movie star.”
She added, “I just wanted to be the best I could be.”
