Not surprisingly, the Apalachee High School shooter was under FBI surveillance.
The day after Colt Gray was indicted on murder charges, the 14-year-old shooter's father was indicted on four counts of manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of child abuse.
“My first thought was, if it's the son's crime, you don't blame the father, and if it's the father's crime, you don't blame the son. That was my first reaction. I was like, what are we doing?” Glenn Beck I ask.
The charges came after it was revealed the father had purchased an AR-15 style rifle as a Christmas gift for his son last year.
“The first gun I got was from my granddad when I was about 12 years old,” he said in disbelief, before adding, “Now I just see this as another way to get a gun.”
But the case is more complicated than it seems, with authorities reportedly visiting the couple before the father gifted his son the gun after receiving a tip about a school shooting threat.
“This is information that the FBI obtained months before the shooting,” Glenn said, noting that his mother had a long criminal record, including for child abuse. The shooter's aunt, Annie Brown, also told The Washington Post that her nephew suffered from mental illness and “was asking everyone around him for help.”
“So I want to ask: Why do we have the FBI? Why do we have the FBI? I know they're spying illegally for our own safety, but I don't think it's for our safety, because they're not protecting us,” he said, explaining that many of the shooters who committed mass shootings were already under FBI surveillance.
“The FBI missed the signals in four mass shootings. What are they doing?” Glenn asked.
