Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) said on CNN's “OutFront” on Monday that former President Donald Trump would prosecute and jail any American who disagrees with him.
“He's been laying the groundwork to claim election fraud if he loses in November. I just want you to know that, because if you haven't been listening all weekend, you might have missed it. What he said. He said the only thing that will stop him from winning this election is widespread fraud and irregularities. That's what he said,” host Erin Burnett said.
“The cheating has to stop. If we stop the cheating and don't tolerate the cheating, I don't even have to campaign anymore. We're going to win by a landslide,” Trump said at a campaign rally on Saturday.
“Do you think this is just an empty threat?” Mr Barnett asked.
Kelly said, “No. His threats in 2020 were not false. I was on the Senate floor when he sent a mob into the U.S. Capitol to try to change the outcome of a free and fair election. This is unprecedented in the history of our country. So I take his threats very seriously.”
He added, “If you disagree with him about what happened in the 2024 election, he's saying he's open to jail and prosecution just for disagreeing with the former president.”
