Trump makes rare spin room appearance after debate with Harris

Former President Trump made a surprise appearance in the spin room after his debate with Vice President Harris on Tuesday, where he denied questions about his performance and boasted that he was the night's winner.

Trump answered questions for a few minutes, then walked onto the set of Sean Hannity's Fox News show, where he touted his performance as “great” and shrugged off a question about whether he would debate Harris again.

“It was fun. I think it was the best debate ever. It was three to one,” Trump said, complaining about the ABC News hosts.

It is not common for the candidates themselves to go to the spin room after the debate; instead, candidates send surrogates to the scene to speak to reporters after the debate.

“I just felt like doing it,” Trump told Hannity about his reasons for visiting the spin room. “I'm very pleased with the outcome.”

The vice president tried multiple times during Tuesday night's debate to rile up Trump, and was often successful when the former president veered off topic about the size of the audience, President Biden and a plot involving migrants kidnapping pets in an Ohio town.

Immediately after the debate ended, Harris' campaign called for another debate.

“Vice President Harris is ready for debate two. What about Donald Trump?” campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement.
