On Wednesday, a Black immigrant caller challenged radio host Charlaman the God over Vice President Kamala Harris' handling of the border crisis.
Harris has campaigned on solving the border crisis, but more than 7 million migrants have attempted to cross the U.S. southern border since President Joe Biden took office. According to “I was in the US on a flight to New York on Saturday, and I was in the US on Saturday,” Al said, calling from Queens, New York, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data. The Breakfast ClubWhile Vice President Harris has asserted that she bears significant responsibility for the increase, Vice President Charlemagne has argued that the crisis is caused by factors other than the vice president's policies. “First off, let me say I love you guys. I listen to you guys every morning. I'm black and I'm an immigrant too. But there are some things you're saying that Kamala doesn't support or doesn't answer the questions,” Al said. “I watched that same debate. When you talk about immigration, you blame her for immigrants flocking to New York and other states.”
“Listen, I don’t know why we’re pinning the blame on one person as if the border issue hasn’t been an issue for years under every administration, which is why they were able to craft a bipartisan bill. [former president] “Donald Trump didn't want to push through because he knew it would lead to a Democratic victory,” Charmagne responded, “so I don't understand why we're acting like one person caused the border problem.”
The bipartisan border bill would have dedicated more than $700 million to hiring additional U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and U.S. Border Patrol agents, but it included a provision that would have allowed the border to remain open so long as fewer than 5,000 migrants were allowed in per day.
“But here's the thing: Even if he doesn't push the bill, adding more Border Patrol agents won't fix the situation that still allows these people in,” Al said. “No matter how many Border Patrol agents we add, if the administration allows these migrants in and lets them fly anywhere in the U.S. for free, the Border Patrol can't do anything.”
Biden Appointed Harris will spearhead the administration's efforts to tackle the border crisis with specific instructions to address the root causes of migration from Central America in early 2021. More than 50% of voters believe Trump could handle immigration better than Harris. According to Sunday edition of The New York Times/Siena College.
