Germany on Wednesday unveiled a series of proposals to step up its tough stance on immigration, reduce the number of asylum seekers attempting to enter the country and thwart terrorist threats along with cross-border crime.
Berlin says it needs to tackle illegal immigration, which has overburdened public services, and protect its citizens from threats such as Islamic extremism.
The move came a day after Germany announced it would begin implementing stricter controls at all land borders to turn away potential illegal immigrants, Breitbart News reported.

“We will be lobbying our European partners at a high political level to get faster re-entry into their countries and ensure that European rules are respected,” Faeser said.
The German Federal Police Union (DPolG Bundespolizei) confirmed that its members are fully equipped to carry out checks at the land border. Die Welt Reports.
