Former President Donald Trump holds a 3-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in North Carolina, a larger margin than the margin he held when he won the state in 2020, an American Greatness/TIPP poll found Friday.
Public Opinion Poll sampling 1,037 voters cast ballots between September 9 and 11, with a margin of error of 3.2 percentage points. The poll coincided with the September 10 presidential debate.
Polls show Trump holding a three-point lead.
- Trump: 48.9%
- Harris: 45.9%
Trump is also doing well among certain demographics in the state.
- 10% lead among independents
- White voters: 61%
- Hispanic: 43%
American Greatness broke down the survey results as follows:
The economy and immigration remain the top two issues on voters' minds. Fifty-six percent of voters said they were “better off” under Trump, while 34% said they are “better off now.” Regarding border security, 45% said they were “better off.”Number The president holds a large 22% advantage over Harris, 57% to 35%. When it comes to national security, voters trust Trump more than Harris, 51% to 40%.
The poll results were released the same day that Quantas released its post-debate poll, which found Trump leading Harris by 1.7 percentage points.
If Trump wins North Carolina, Harris' campaign will face immense pressure to defend Georgia, Arizona and the Rust Belt states, especially Pennsylvania.
Republicans have won North Carolina since President Barack Obama briefly flipped it to the Democrats in 2008. President Joe Biden lost in 2020 by 1.34 percentage points.
Harris campaigned in the Tar Heel State on Thursday. “I actually have the endorsements of 200 Republicans who have formally worked with President Bush, Mitt Romney and John McCain, including the endorsements of former Vice President Dick Cheney and Rep. Liz Cheney,” she boasted.
