New York City Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg is stepping down from her position under Gov. Eric Adams' administration. She announced the move late Saturday, just days after NYPD Commissioner Edward Cavan stepped down as the city's top cop.
Zonberg has been the mayor and city hall's chief counsel since July 2023.
Her sudden resignation comes as federal investigators are zeroing in on Adams' top aides and other associates.
“I am deeply grateful to Mayor Adams for the opportunity to serve our city, and I strongly support the work he has done and will continue to do for New Yorkers,” Sonberg said in a statement, Pix11 reported.
Adams thanked Sonberg and said he plans to announce his successor in the coming days.
“I want to thank Lisa for all her hard work over the past 13 months serving our administration and, most importantly, our city. These are hard jobs and no one expects to be in a job forever,” Hizzoner said.
