According to a 2016 X post, David Plouffe, a senior adviser to Kamala Harris, once called for the eradication of former President Donald Trump and “those like him,” another example of Democrats calling for harm against the former president that has come to prominence in the wake of another assassination attempt.
“It's not enough to defeat Trump, he must be destroyed. People like him must never rise again,” Plouffe, a former adviser to then-President Barack Obama, posted on June 13, 2016.
The Trump campaign's post comes after a second assassination attempt on Trump on Sunday was thwarted when Secret Service agents spotted a man pointing a rifle through a fence while Trump was playing golf at his private Florida course.
“This man is now a top official for the Kamala Harris campaign,” the Trump campaign posted.
Democrats and Never-Trumpers have long accused Trump of being a “threat” to the country and democracy. They have accused him of being an “insurrectionist” and a danger to the nation and the world. They have repeatedly falsely accused Trump of wanting to be a “dictator” and of being a “rapist.”
The second assassination attempt came just two months after the first, when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks nearly killed Trump with a bullet that grazed his ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crooks killed innocent bystander Corey Comperatore and wounded two others.
