The State of Florida Is Going to Do Our Own Investigation

Appearing on FNC's “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) declared that he would open his own state investigation into the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“The state of Florida is going to conduct its own investigation,” he said. “Clearly, there were multiple violations of Florida law. I think we also have an interest in finding out the truth about where this guy came from and what his motivations were. The people of our state deserve that. Agencies like the FBI and the Department of Justice, who are trying to indict Trump in South Florida, are appealing to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to reinstate the indictments that were dismissed. They are the best people to tell the truth about this defendant, but I don't think it's in the best interest of this country to prosecute a case where they don't have as strong a claim of jurisdiction.”

“So we're going to be doing an investigation,” DeSantis continued. “I'll have more to say in a moment about what we're going to do specifically, but, Jesse, I played golf with the president on that course while he was in office. It's a great golf course. That part of the property, the fifth green, the sixth hole and the seventh tee, are right by the fence line. The fence line is obscured by shrubs. So if you're just walking by, you can't see in. But that's obviously the biggest weakness of that course, because if you're obscured by the shrubs, you get a pretty good view of some of the golf holes.”
