A website created by former President Donald Trump's campaign is warning voters in their states that their taxes will increase if Vice President Kamala Harris is elected president in November.
The website highlights how much more voters will have to pay in taxes if President Trump's tax cuts end in 2025, Fox News reports. Reported After the site went live on Tuesday.
“Kamala Harris will vote against the Trump tax cuts and will allow them to lapse if elected,” the website said. read:
“Democrats in Washington don't care about you, and they've teamed up with Kamala Harris to make sure you pay more taxes and have less money in your pocket,” the article continues. “According to the Tax Foundation, most taxpayers will see a significant tax increase when the Trump tax cuts expire. We must say no to Kamala Harris and her anti-American policies!”
The site's map uses data from the Tax Foundation to show how much tax people living in each state would pay.
“IRS data shows President Trump's tax cuts helped middle-class Americans,” the website notes.
According to the Fox report, the average tax increase would be $2,580.57, but for people living in Democratic-run states like California and Washington, the increase could rise to more than $3,000 or $4,000.
As a senator in 2017, Harris joined other Democrats in voting against the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Breitbart News reported on August 18.
The article points out that “the child tax credit was doubled, and now she wants to significantly increase that credit.”
“Harris copied policy proposals from the Trump-Vance campaign to significantly expand the child tax credit. After Vance first called for expanding the child tax credit to $5,000, Harris quickly called for expanding the credit to $6,000,” the report said.
The American Tax Reform Association said in August that Harris' economic plan would result in significant tax increases over 10 years, according to Breitbart News.
“In essence, ATR stated that Harris' tax increases and other proposals would increase taxes on American households and businesses by $5 trillion,” the report said.
According to Breitbart News, President Trump recently promised to repeal the overtime tax and praised people who work overtime while lamenting the fact that Washington “doesn't care about them.”
Caroline Leavitt, national spokesperson for the Trump campaign, told Fox about the tax website: “As Kamala visits Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin this week, will she be telling voters that if she wins and the Trump tax cuts expire, they will, on average, pay more than $2,000 in additional taxes each year?”
“The choice is simple: line your pockets with President Trump or raise your taxes with Kamala Harris,” she added.
