A plane in South Carolina made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Tuesday after a door on the small aircraft fell off.

The report said the pilot and passengers were on board but no one was injured.

The ill-fated plane's flight number matched that of the LIFT Academy flight school, and it was able to turn back and land at the airport at 3:01 pm.

According to local reports, Wendy Hodges was leaving her home when someone told her part of a plane had fallen nearby, and then she saw a door in her neighbour's garden.

Another emergency landing occurred in New England on Tuesday.

A Cape Air Cessna 402C with landing gear problems made a dramatic return to Boston's Logan Airport, landing on one wheel in an incredible scene captured on video.

The pilot and two passengers, including a Cape Air trainee, were uninjured.
