Michigan Pastor Planted Hidden Camera in Church Bathroom

A Michigan pastor has been fired and indicted after he admitted to installing hidden cameras in church bathrooms to spy on other staff members, church officials said.

Will Johnson, who served as worship pastor director at 2|42 Community Church in Brighton, was questioned by other church leaders after a staff member discovered a camera inside a “private unisex restroom behind the scenes,” said Eric Rauch, senior pastor of pastoral operations. said of Detroit News.

Rauch said Johnson admitted to placing the camera in the bathroom and was immediately fired.

The disgraced pastor, 37, later allegedly confessed to Livingston County sheriff's detectives that over the past two years he had intermittently installed cameras in bathrooms to spy on certain church employees.

Rauch said Johnson was arrested Friday and charged Sunday with tampering with evidence, surveillance of a nude person and using a computer to commit a crime.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by this situation. The protection, safety and privacy of all who visit our church is our top priority,” Rauch said, adding that 2|42 Community Church is “fully cooperating with the Sheriff's Office investigation and is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of our facilities, including working with third-party investigators.”

The church announced the shocking allegations to its members in a Facebook post, asking them to “please pray” for the victims and all those affected.

Johnson is Worked He is serving a five-year sentence at the church and is being held in the Livingston County Jail on $250,000 bail, according to WWMT.

He is due to appear in court on September 24th.

If convicted on all charges, he faces up to eight years in prison.
