Haters will hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.
Pop superstar Taylor Swift's summer came to a brutal end on Thursday when a new poll showed that fewer Americans have a favorable view of her than Donald Trump.
The 78-year-old anti-hero former president received a 47% favorability rating in a national poll conducted by The New York Times and Siena College from Sept. 11-16, after Swift endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
By comparison, Swift, 34, had a much lower approval rating of just 42%.
The Republican candidate slammed his fellow billionaire for endorsing Harris, 59, posting on social media on Sunday: “I hate Taylor Swift!”
Harris herself outperformed Swift, with 48% viewing the vice president favorably.
But the major party candidates' disapproval ratings are higher than Swift's, with 50% of respondents viewing Trump unfavorably and 48% viewing Harris unfavorably, reflecting a more polarized electorate with few people knowing anything about the candidates.
In contrast, 34% of respondents had a negative opinion of Swift, and 22% had no opinion.
An overwhelming majority of Democrats (70%) have a favorable view of Swift, but only 41% of independents and 23% of Republicans say so.
On September 10, Swift endorsed Harris on Instagram, directly quoting Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance's comments about childfree women.
“I think [Harris] “She is a calm and gifted leader who believes our country can achieve much more if led with calm rather than chaos.”
“I am incredibly encouraged and impressed by her choice for running mate,” Swift wrote, citing three specific policy areas: LGBT rights, abortion rights and access to IVF. [Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz]who has stood up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women's rights over their own bodies for decades.”
The “You Belong With Me” singer signed the post, “Taylor Swift childfree cat woman,” and attached a photo from her 2023 Time Magazine Person of the Year photoshoot in which she posed with ragdoll cat Benjamin Button.
