Offensive tackle Morgan Moses appears to have avoided a season-ending knee injury.
Manager Robert Saleh said on a conference call Friday morning that the initial prognosis is “fair,” but that tests remain to determine the exact severity.
Moses, 33, suffered a knee injury late in the third quarter of the Jets' blowout win over the Patriots.
The Jets traded Moses to the Ravens for two mid-round draft picks in the offseason to bolster their offensive line.
For the time being, rookie Olu Fashanu will start in place of Moses.
Saleh felt his first-round draft pick performed well Thursday after Moses was injured.
“He did a good job, he played on the right wing and he got in there,” Saleh said. [Moses] “We had an injury. We're sending out a first-round draft pick. He's done well. He's been working a lot in practice.”
“Obviously, we have a plan for both those tackles and he's another guy that we're excited to watch get better and better every week.”
Middle linebacker C.J. Mosley (bruised right big toe) missed the win over the Patriots.
Saleh remains confident he will be available to play against the Broncos a week from Sunday.
“We'll see how he feels on Monday, Tuesday, then Wednesday, but if this was later in the year, we could have played a game and he would have been available,” Saleh said. “But it just wasn't worth aggravating such a minor injury, given the overall course of things. [it] It probably wasn't worth it.”
Thursday's win for the Jets ended a dizzying early streak that saw them win two of three games in an 11-day span.
Saleh tweaked the schedule ahead of the Patriots game, moving the walk-through to after Monday and has been pleased with the results.
He had never won a Thursday night game as Jets coach.
“It was my first time using it and I felt like we were playing fast,” he said. “We played hard, we played with a lot of tension and effort. We felt like we had momentum.”
