People Must Look at Polls’ ‘Track Record in History’

When considering the polls promoted by mainstream media about the state of the presidential election, Americans need to look at “historical track record,” Eric Dougherty of Florida's Voice explained in an interview. Breitbart News Saturday.

Dougherty, assistant news director for Voice News in Florida, and host Matthew Boyle discussed how to scrutinize polls. Some polls boast numbers favorable to former President Donald Trump and others favorable to Vice President Kamala Harris. But Americans need to look at polls' “past performance” before blindly believing them.

“So these people say, 'Oh, there's a quality poll out in Pennsylvania that shows Kamala Harris leading by five points. Here's another one. Kamala Harris leading by four points.' And then I look at their history and it's Biden +10 in Pennsylvania, Biden +8, Biden +11, Biden +7. I'm like, why are we taking that seriously?” Dougherty said, while Boyle said Biden Winner In 2020, he won Pennsylvania by less than two percentage points.

listen:

“Who do I trust? I go look at the final polls. Trafalgar Group, right? Wisconsin. They were off by about 0.4 in Wisconsin. I think they were right. Fun fact, the best pollster in Pennsylvania in 2020 is Rasmussen. They were closest to their results. I think they had Biden ahead by 3 points. Believe it or not, that's about a 1.8 point margin of error. Rasmussen was closest compared to the other polls. In Michigan, I think it was an insider advantage,” he explained.

Dougherty said the pollsters have been vilified as right-wing but “you only need to look at the scorecards from FiveThirtyEight, which is owned by ABC, to see that”.

“So I like to look at their track record and see how wrong they were, how off they were. Now, was it within the margin of error? OK, maybe I can give it a little more credence. But if these pollsters are giving them +11, +12, then I look at it and say, 'I'm going to stick with the guys whose track records I know,'” he added.
