Don’t shift strategy at end of season

of Fantasy Baseball The season is drawing to a close and everyone is looking to make one last effort to reach the summit.

Getting there isn't easy unless you have a dream sherpa like Shohei Ohtani to guide you to the promised land.

So while we're not in a position to award participation awards, we can offer some praise for getting this far.

But it's not over yet.

There is still work to be done.

The real question is, when you get here, can you get the job done?

We can sit here and use all the usual end-of-season clichés.

You could say to “The Waterboy” Dan Fouts, “It's the last game of the season, so we can't hold anything back.”

The Phillies celebrated by beating the Mets on September 20th. Charles Wenzelberg

To quote Cliff Murdoch’s famous Rookie of the Year speech: “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the last one.

That's all.

There is no tomorrow.

This is for the whole Magilla, the whole wax, the whole kit and kaboodle, the whole enchilada!”

We could keep it simple and quote Adrian and tell Rocky to “just go out there and WIN!”

You don't even need Mickey to ask you what you're waiting for.

You know what you have to do.

That's what brings us here today.

There are no more hidden gems to unearth.

The MLB rosters have been decided.

Playoff teams use their best players, while losing teams audition younger players.

It's highly unlikely that you'll read through any fantasy baseball article and come across a name that you never thought was worthy of being on your team.

Let's face facts: if you don't know any important names at this point, how on earth did you get here?

Otani?

I think that's as good an answer as any other.

The best advice someone can give you at this point is to just keep doing what you’ve been doing for the past six months.

I couldn’t have gotten to this point without hard work, reading the news, analyzing the numbers and being very specific with my waiver wire moves.

It would be foolish to do anything differently at this point.

Do you bet on baseball?

Maybe you’re in third place in a rotisserie league and want to fill your final week’s roster with players focused on the categories where you need them most and are most mobile, but that’s it.

It's important to persevere until the end.

It's about giving your best effort, regardless of the outcome.

You have come this far after a long and difficult effort.

If we can't maintain the same level of intensity at this point, we may not deserve to win.

What should they do, Adrian?

Tell it!
