Jalen Brunson's strange encounter with a police officer during Knicks celebration: 'Don't push him'

Uncomfortable Moment at Knicks Championship Celebration

As the Knicks reveled in their historic championship win, an unsettling interaction involving Rick Brunson and Jalen Brunson with a Texas sheriff’s deputy began circulating on social media following Game 5 of the NBA Finals in San Antonio.

In the recorded footage, Jalen greets the deputy and poses for a photo, only for the deputy to push him aside, seemingly instructing him to move.

Reacting to the deputy’s actions, Jalen expressed his frustration, prompting Rick, an assistant coach for the Knicks, to intervene, stating, “Don’t push him.”

In the background, a woman can be heard mentioning, “He’s the Finals MVP,” highlighting the situation’s intensity.

This moment unfolded as the Knicks celebrated their first championship in 53 years at the arena, having achieved a 94-90 victory over the Spurs at Frostbank Center. This win marks their third title in franchise history.

Jalen was celebrated for winning the Bill Russell Trophy for Finals MVP after an impressive performance, scoring 45 points in what many called a heroic effort.

The buzzer-beating victory sent the city of New York into a celebration frenzy, even as Knicks fans thousands of miles away in Texas shared in the joy before the team returned home later that night.

Rick Brunson, a former player himself, spent parts of three seasons with the Knicks from 1999 to 2001 and was part of the last Knicks team to reach the Finals in ’99, coincidentally losing to the Spurs, who secured their first franchise title that year.
