Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee called the latest installment in the “God's Not Dead” film series “In God We Trust,” a story made for this moment in history.
He says the new film is a bit like the Jimmy Stewart classic “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” but updated for a time when faith in God is not openly declared and religious freedom is challenged by woke political agendas.
The film quotes a speech given by Ronald Reagan at an Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast in Dallas, Texas, more than 40 years ago.
Faith leaders say parents shouldn't trust the world to teach their children about God
At the event, he said: “Without God, there is no virtue, because there is no prompting of conscience.”
And “without God democracy does not and cannot last long.”
The film stars David A.R. White, Ray Wise, Dean Cain, Charlene Tilton, and Scott Baio. Huckabee plays himself in the film, as the lead character is a guest on his talk show.

In a recent episode “Lighthouse Faith” Podcasthe joked about preparing his Oscar speech.
“I'm a great supporting actor for playing a role that nobody remembers!” Huckabee said.
But in all seriousness, he said the film is so powerful that it “couldn't be more timely.”
Huckabee said Christians are being vilified and scolded for not keeping their faith personal.
It's about a congressional campaign between a career politician and a Christian pastor who are suddenly embroiled in a political battle when they are asked to run as opposing candidates in a special election just four weeks away.
The film tackles head-on issues of faith in the public sphere, religious freedom and the condemnation of Christian nationalism – issues that have sparked fierce debate and cultural clashes today.

Huckabee said Christians are being vilified and accused of not keeping their faith personal and of trying to impose their values on the rest of the country.
But, Huckabee said, “Some people say these people want to impose their values on others, and I say: Don't the left want to impose their values on others? Yes.”

He added, “Politics is ultimately about winning elections and having your policies and what you value become part of the culture and government. But I don't think that's an element of faith. What a lot of Christians want is for an 8-year-old to be able to say, 'I don't think that's an element of faith.'” [put near] “I saw porn at school.”
Best-selling Christian author Lisa Bibber knows what Huckabee is talking about: A few years ago, she protested against her 14-year-old son's school after his English teacher assigned reading that she called inappropriate.
The film aims to do more than encourage Christians to become more involved in their communities.
Speaking on an episode of the “Lighthouse Faith” podcast, Biver said that in the book, “They were talking about pornography and masturbation, and I thought, what the heck? What does this have to do with English literature?”

Biver posted a few passages from the book on his social media pages, eliciting responses from hundreds of parents who demanded that it be removed from school curriculums, which it was.
But the film aims to do more than encourage Christians to become more involved in their communities.
It is also a wake-up call to inspire the millions of people who did not vote in the last election to make their voice heard not only at the polls but also at the ballot box on November 5th.

“This is a reminder that 40 million Christians in America didn't vote in the last presidential election. 40 million… But a lot of people think that doesn't really matter. 'My vote doesn't matter.' But that's not true,” Huckabee said.
Huckabee, a Fox News Channel contributor, is an ardent supporter of Donald Trump. Why?
“I like his transparency. He has no ill intentions.”
And now, in the wake of a second assassination attempt on President Trump, Huckabee is targeting left-wing speech.

“You'd think Democrats would stop calling Trump a 'threat to democracy' which only incites violence and intimidation, but in reality, from media hosts to the White House, they have no shame in continuing to blame Trump for his own near-assassination,” he told Fox News.
“He doesn't want the government to dictate what we should think, what we should preach, what we should say, what we should pray.”
“This is outrageous,” he added.
As an ordained minister, Huckabee knows he and other evangelicals have taken a lot of flak for supporting Trump, for whom 80% of white evangelicals voted in 2016.
It was Huckabee who gathered about 1,200 pastors to meet with Trump before the presidential election and persuade him to support him.
He maintained that what he said then remains true today.

“I don't think Trump is one of the evangelicals. I — and my introduction was [to the pastors] It said, “Look, Donald Trump is not one of us. He probably won't be sitting in the front row of your church this Sunday… so let's not fool ourselves.”
But Huckabee said Trump's positives outweigh his negatives.

“He respects us. [evangelicals]And he doesn't want the government to tell us what to think, what to preach, what to say, what to pray. That's all I want from the government.”
Huckabee also said Trump was the most pro-life presidential candidate.
But during this election campaign, Trump has been criticized by pro-life leaders for changing his stance on the issue and even accusing him of abandoning the pro-life cause.

At this year's Republican National Convention, the Platform Committee voted to remove the right-to-life clause, and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, issued a minority report opposing the RNC platform.
Other leaders, like Quinn Skinner, a former U.S. Navy officer who now works for a pregnancy support group, lamented in an op-ed that “there is no national party that stands for the sanctity of life.”
Still, Huckabee said Trump's presence on the international stage is exactly what America needs right now.
Huckabee's support for Israel is part biblical and part political.
“His stance on Israel is more noteworthy than any American president, that's all. So it's a no-brainer for me to support him on issues that are non-negotiable.”

Huckabee was scheduled to visit Israel this month. He said he has visited the Jewish state of Israel about 100 times since 1973, sometimes alone and sometimes with a group. He said he visited Israel shortly after the Hamas attack on October 7 last year.
“We were having lunch in a restaurant in Tel Aviv when we heard the sirens, so we had to go to the bomb shelter. When we got there, we heard the Iron Dome intercepting the rockets above our heads.”

As a geopolitical example, he evoked a scenario closer to home: “If someone came across the border in Buffalo, New York, or El Paso, Texas, and massacred 1,200 people by putting babies in ovens, slicing pregnant women's uteruses in front of their children, and violently raping women in front of their families, do you think Americans would say, 'I just hope there's a ceasefire?'”

“Whatever the force behind it is, we would want to completely destroy it. So I think Israel would show far more restraint than the United States would in a similar situation,” Huckabee said.

However, there are biblical reasons for supporting Israel.
“If you read Genesis 12, it says, 'Blessed is he that blesses Israel, and cursed is he that curses Israel,' and I'm a simple man. When I read it like that, I think it's better to be blessed than cursed. I'm going to side with Israel,” Huckabee said.
