Rapper 50 Cent shares why people ‘identify’ with Trump after assassination attempt

Although rapper 50 Cent said he would stay out of the election, his reaction after the first assassination attempt didn't stop him from acknowledging that people like him sympathize with former President Trump.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, spoke in an interview Saturday morning to discuss his new book, “The Accomplice,” and was asked about his stance on the presidential election.

“I don't want to get involved because then Trump gets shot and 'Many Men' starts playing and streaming goes up 250 percent,” Jackson said.

It was a reference to Trump's 2003 hit “Many Men,” which Trump later performed live during a live stream days after the first assassination attempt on him. The song includes lyrics like, “Many men want me dead, There's blood in my eyes, dude, and I can't see, I'm about to become what I'm destined to be.”

Jackson later commented on that moment and his interaction with Trump, especially after Trump pumped his fist in the now-iconic image.

“He says fight, yeah, and that's exactly what I did after I got shot. I just went into fight mode,” he said. “And that's how people perceive it.”

50 Cent has hinted at his support for Trump in the past, telling CBS News congressional correspondent Nicole Killion in June that black men “sympathize with Trump” because “he's been charged with violating the RICO Act.” [too]”

Earlier this year, he added: “I think Trump will be president again, but I'm not going to say so.”

Most notably, in October 2020, Jackson urged his Instagram followers to vote for Trump after seeing a report that New York City residents could face a 62% tax rate under President Biden.

“What the hell! I'm not voting for Trump,” Jackson wrote. “Fuck NYC. The Knicks aren't gonna win anyway. I don't care if Trump hates black people. Are you 62% nuts?”

“Another twist. FUCK DONALD TRUMP. I've never hated him,” the rapper wrote. “As far as I'm concerned, he set me up and killed my friend Angel Fernandez but that's in the past. LOL.”
