How Sabrina Carpenter got caught up in Eric Adams’ corruption probe

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is everywhere, even amid the scandal surrounding Mayor Eric Adams.

The furore began with the petite singer's risqué music video, which showed her writhing around in a black minidress at the altar of a Brooklyn church, moments before men committed bloody suicide for her.

An immoral fracas ensued, and an “appalled” bishop reprimanded a flamboyant Catholic priest who had opened his church doors to a booty-baring carpenter.

And now this blasphemous tale has an unexpected ending: the sensual Sabrina has brought a previously unknown priest and church under federal scrutiny as they investigate corruption around Adams.

When asked by The Washington Post last week to comment on a subpoena seeking information about Bishop Jamie Gigantiello's business dealings with Adams' former chief of staff, Frank Calone, Brooklyn Diocese officials responded with a statement that it was related to an internal investigation into Carpenter's music video.

“It would be inappropriate to comment further on this investigation, which is still ongoing,” diocese officials said in a statement to The Washington Post.

And in the next moment, they referred to the federal investigation that nabbed Gigantiello and Carone: “The Archdiocese is committed to fully cooperating with law enforcement, including with respect to any investigations of conduct in individual parishes or involving priests.”

The statement suggests that Carpenter's filming of last year's music video for “Feather” may have led to a federal investigation, one of many surrounding the Adams administration.

The lewd video, which showed a skimpy-clad 25-year-old Carpenter dancing in a Williamsburg church next to a casket bearing the words “Rest in Peace, Bitch,” infuriated Bishop Robert Brennan, who reconsecrated the church as a way to cleanse it of the pop star's blasphemous language.

Gigantiello, who also serves as a chaplain for the New York City Fire Department, claimed he and his team were “unaware that anything provocative was happening within the church” and asked for forgiveness.

But Brennan removed Gigantiello from his administrative duties and also conducted a “broader administrative investigation” of the church along with the demotion, diocese officials said.

Gigantiello is said to be a party animal and has been spotted hanging out with his friend, Carone, a source told The Post.

Mr. Gigantiello and Mr. Carone, one of Mr. Adams' closest aides, often party together, according to sources.

The subpoenas seeking information about the two men were among a wave of federal actions against many of Adams' top officials and associates in recent weeks and months.

Calone served as Adams' chief of staff before leaving in 2022 to run a consulting firm. He is now managing director of Hizzoner's reelection campaign.

Gigantiello and Carone did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but the priest He reportedly mentioned earthly suffering at the end of Sunday Mass.

“I need your prayers,” he said, according to the National Catholic Reporter.

Gigantiello, a cookbook author and tomato sauce maker, reportedly joked when he saw his culinary interests mentioned in news reports about the subpoena.

“I bet you saw the advertisements for my cookbook and tomato sauce in the news this week,” he reportedly joked.

“It cost a lot of money to advertise there.”
