Former President Trump's campaign said he was briefed on Tuesday about a “real, specific threat” from Iran to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate.

Iran's attempt to assassinate Trump is part of Iran's efforts to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States, Trump campaign communications director Steven Thune said in a press release.

“Intelligence officials have seen these sustained and coordinated attacks escalate over the past few months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and that the election is not disrupted,” Chang said.

“Make no mistake: Iran's terrorist regime loves Kamala Harris' weakness and fears President Trump's strength and determination. He will be unstoppable and undeterred in his efforts to fight for the American people and Make America Great Again.”
