She’s ‘Going to Keep a Lot of the Same Policies’ from Biden

During CNBC's “Squawk Box” broadcast on Tuesday, Sen. Chris Coons (D-Delaware), co-chair of the Harris-Waltz initiative, responded to a question about whether people needed to know more about 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris' economic policies, saying that VP Harris has laid out a “broad vision” for priorities and some policies and that she “intends to maintain many of the same policies and policies” as President Joe Biden.

Co-host Andrew Ross Sorkin asked, “Do you think the American people, the voters, many of whom, by the way, will now have a chance to vote, are entitled to know the details of her economic plan? Before they go to vote, should they know what their tax rates are going to be, or at least what she thinks their tax rates should be? Should they know what her ideal global regulatory regime would be? I think these are unique and important questions. Maybe you could say they shouldn't know these things, but I think these are the kinds of things that people want to understand.”

Coons responded: “She laid out a broad vision for priorities, and I think the average American voter has had to see a race that was confusing, unpredictable, and jumping around like a former president and vice president saying, 'We're going to keep a lot of the same policies and agenda.' Her initial outpouring on economic policy upset some in my party. [capital] “The rate hike is lower than President Biden had called for. She's focused on how to build more housing, partner with the private sector, remove regulatory barriers, provide incentives, and, in turn, build more middle-class wealth.”

Earlier in the interview, Coons said both Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), would provide further details this week.
