Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on MSNBC's “Morning Joe” on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump should be removed from politics, and clarified that she meant “vote him out.”
“We need to work with Congress on tax policy, but if Trump decides to do something outrageous, like a 200 percent tariff, that will hurt the American people, raise prices and destroy jobs, I can do it as president,” Raimondo said. “And that's why I'm here personally, frankly. The stakes are too high in this case. We can't afford to put Trump in the White House again.”
She added: “He eggAs you know, I serve as the Governor of Rhode Island and was one of the first governors in the nation to enact this legislation in 2019. egg “By state law in Rhode Island, he was president. I worked with the Legislature because I was afraid of what was going to happen. I said Rhode Island women would be protected. That's what protection really is, that we would take the initiative. But he's saying the exact opposite. Yet another lie. How did we get to this? Let's get rid of him for good. We know the answer. We have an incredibly talented candidate who is honest, realistic, open. Let's just get it done.”
“And by eliminate, do you mean voting him out?” host Mika Brzezinski asked.
“Yes, absolutely get him out. Get him out of American politics. Yes, get him out and he's gone,” Raimondo said.
