Kamala Harris ridiculed after urging Americans to move on from ‘failed policies’

Vice President Kamala Harris drew ridicule on social media during a speech on the economy on Wednesday in which she called on Americans to move away from “failed policies” that have “proven not to work.”

In a policy speech to the Economic Club of Pittsburgh, Ms. Harris touted her “middle-class upbringing” and vowed to “build a strong middle class.” In recent weeks, she has unveiled proposals including expanding tax cuts for new small businesses and providing a $25,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers.

“A strong middle class makes America stronger, and we can build a stronger middle class,” Harris said. “The American economy is the most powerful engine of innovation and wealth creation in the history of mankind. We need to move beyond failed policies that have proven they don't work, and, like generations before us, let's be inspired by the possibilities.”

Harris' comments about “getting over” failed policies prompted jokes from conservative political commentators on social media, who found her comments ironic given that she is the sitting vice president.

“Acceptance is the first step,” joked Steve Cortez, a former adviser to Trump's 2020 campaign and Fox News contributor.

“Who would want to tell her?” Red State columnist Buzz Patterson quipped.

“Kamala Harris says we need to get beyond failed policies that don't work. She's urging you to vote for Trump. Listen to her,” wrote Seth Dillon, CEO of the Babylon Bee.

“New Trump ad out!” posted conservative commentator LibsofTikTok.

“That's right,” Republican Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas responded. “The American people are tired of the failed policies of the Harris-Biden Administration. Let's hope November comes soon!”

“While Harris is saying we need to get over her failed policies, this old man goes on The View and says he delegated everything to Harris during his administration. Quite a sight today,” posted Versus Media podcast host Stephen L. Miller.

In her speech, Harris called her 2024 presidential opponent “one of the biggest losers of all time,” a reference to President Biden's use of the term Trump during an appearance on “The View” on the same day.

Polls show Harris trailing Trump on key issues such as the economy and inflation.

She has focused her public remarks in recent weeks on the economy, seeking to bridge the gap with President Trump on the nation's top concerns.
