First appeared on FOX: A conservative super PAC is running a new TV ad blasting Rep. Collin Allred, the Democratic Texas Senate candidate who is in a high-profile race against incumbent Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.
Truth and Courage, a PAC supporting Cruz, is running a $3 million ad buy in Texas to criticize the Democrat's past support for allowing biological men to compete against women in sports.
“Texas girls are tough” 30 second version The ad shows young women training for various sports competitions and says: “But even as they try harder, they face a new opponent that they just can't beat.”
“Colin Allred could have stopped boys from participating in girls' sports, but instead he voted against our daughters,” the ad continues, before showing a man wearing a jersey that resembles Allred and has the name “Allred” on it tackling one of the girls.

Also, 60 second version The ad includes several photos of Allred with then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) As the photos are introduced, a narrator says Allred “voted against the Women's and Girls' Protection Act of 2023. He sided with woke progressives and radical Democrats, not with our daughters.”
The ad, which will also air in Spanish, references Allred's vote in Congress against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023. The bill passed the House on a party-line vote and President Biden has said he will veto the bill if it reaches his desk.
“This is a sickening, false attack and another example of how Ted Cruz only wants to divide Texans,” Allred campaign spokesman Josh Stewart told Fox News Digital.
“He'll say anything to distract from dangerous anti-abortion laws that put women's lives at risk, he'll try to raise the retirement age on Social Security and Medicare, and he'll flee to Cancun in the middle of a deadly winter storm.”
Cruz won his Senate race in 2018 by about 3 percentage points, and some experts believe this year's election could be close again.
The Real Clear Politics polling average gives Cruz a five-point lead in the race, but there are worrying signs for the Republican incumbent, including recent polls that show Cruz leading within the margin of error.

“Texas will remain Republican in November and Ted Cruz will be re-elected,” Jimmy Keady, founder and president of JLK Political Strategies, recently told Fox News Digital.
“But Republicans should not underestimate the threat of losing this state. While Republicans will be playing in blue states, Democrats will be playing in red states. To hold on to these seats, Republicans will need to remain disciplined in their messaging and prioritize candidate recruitment.”
