A convicted murderer who brutally murdered his victim in Oklahoma and began transitioning his gender identity while in prison has been sentenced for the stabbing death of a second man, a New York City antiques dealer.
On Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. announced Alex Ray Scott was sentenced to prison for stabbing 64-year-old Kenneth Sabinski to death in January 2020. Scott was sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.
Law enforcement said the victim was decapitated with a chainsaw-like instrument.
Scott, an Oklahoma native, pleaded guilty on September 9 in New York State Supreme Court to one count of second-degree murder and two counts of fourth-degree possession of stolen property.
“Alex Ray Scott is serving a significant prison sentence for the brutal and senseless murder of Kenneth Sabinski, a beloved, friendly man and respected church member,” Bragg said in a statement. It will happen,” he said. “Mr. Sabinski's loss has not only shocked his friends and family, but his close-knit community. We cannot bring Mr. Sabinski back, but we hope that the resolution of this case will help his loved ones.” I hope that this will provide a sense of justice amidst the ongoing grief.”
authorities said Scott met Sabinski on a dating app and they “enjoyed a night out together” on January 27, 2020. Around 11:30 p.m., Scott was allegedly invited to Sabinski's Upper East Side apartment.
The next day, police reported that they found Sabinski “slumped on the living room floor in his East 83rd Street apartment, face down, bloodied and unresponsive.” new york post.
Prosecutors said Savinski suffered head and neck injuries, a broken hyoid bone (located under the neck and jaw), a slit throat and large, deep cuts to his face and forehead. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe Scott used a decorative plate, a kitchen knife and “possibly a pen” to kill Sabinski.
Scott turned himself in to the NYPD's 19th Precinct on January 30, 2020, and was arrested the next day after two of Sabinski's credit cards were found in Scott's belongings.
Scott reportedly told investigators he had no recollection of the gruesome attack. Scott later told detectives that he “might have killed someone last night,” according to the indictment.
During the investigation into Sabinski's bloody murder, Scott allegedly confessed to killing another person in an unrelated incident.
Scott reportedly had a credit card belonging to Robin Skodpol of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Authorities searched Skocdpol's home and found no property, but there was a pool of blood inside the residence, federal prosecutors said.
Skokdpole had not been seen since August 2019.
fox news Scott reported that he rented a room from Skodpol and told others that his landlord had suddenly moved to Dallas for work.
In May 2020, Skodpol's body was found at the edge of a creek in Broken Arrow.

Last May, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma stated: press release“The coroner's report indicated that two different saws were used during the demolition, including one that was the equivalent of a chainsaw.”
Scott was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced in May to 540 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
“Alex Scott was sentenced for the murder and dismemberment of Robin Skodpol,” said U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson. “This successful prosecution was the result of a thorough investigation and outstanding cooperation between federal, state, and local law enforcement. We will continue to work with law enforcement to hold violent offenders accountable. I will go.”
While in prison, Scott began his transgender transition.
Scott (who is biologically male and previously had a beard) feminine appearance at this week's sentencing hearing for Sabinski's murder.
