Vice President Harris will stop in southern Arizona during her campaign on Friday, speaking from a town along the U.S.-Mexico border.
During his visit to Douglas, Arizona, the Democratic presidential candidate plans to meet with Border Patrol agents.
In her remarks, Harris called for more resources for the Border Patrol and said curbing the flow of fentanyl into the United States would be her “top priority” if elected in November, her campaign said. . He also backed a border deal that was negotiated by a bipartisan group of senators but rejected in the House after his Republican opponent, former President Trump, urged Republicans to vote against it earlier this year. It is expected that he will announce it again.
In remarks Thursday, Trump criticized Harris about the Biden administration's immigration policies and claimed the vice president was visiting the border for “political reasons.”
The former president has a narrow lead in the Grand Canyon State, winning 48.6 percent of the vote to Harris' 47.6 percent, according to a poll tallied by The Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters.
The Harris campaign event is scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m. EDT.
