The 49ers are looking to stave off a dreaded Super Bowl hangover and are off to a 1-2 start. Now, video has surfaced of head coach Kyle Shanahan confronting star wideout Brandon Aiyuk over wearing the wrong colored shorts during practice.
clip Shared by San Francisco sports personality Grant Cohn Shanahan is shown approaching Aiyuk during Friday's practice. Aiyuk wore red pants while his teammates' other pants were black.
After the two had a lively discussion, Aiyuk removed his red shorts, unsuccessfully trying to kick them off the ground, and replaced them with black shorts worn by the rest of his teammates.
After practice, a reporter asked Shanhan if Aiyuk was wearing the wrong shorts.
“Yes, he did. Good question,” Shanahan replied.
A further question was asked as to whether this was a punishable offense.
“No,” Shanahan said with a laugh. “I wish I could wear different pants.”
It's been a frustrating start to the season for Aiyuk, who signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $120 million in late August after a summer of contract uncertainty.

Through three games, he has 11 catches for 119 yards and no touchdowns.
Last year, he had 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
Earlier this week, he attributed some of his poor performance to opposing defenses scheming against patterns with quarterback Brock Purdy.
“It's a little different,” Aiyuk told reporters. “They know what we want to do and what we want to do, especially me and Purdy.”
“Trying to get into a different position, trying to look different,” the wideout added in practice this week before the 49ers play the Patriots.
