This isn't the breakout season Breece Hall had envisioned.
Through four games, he still hasn't broken down, and Sunday was his worst production to date.
In the Jets' 10-9 loss to the Broncos at MetLife Stadium, Hall had just 18 yards of offense on 12 touches, committed two penalties, dropped a pass, and missed a key block. He gave an unforgettable performance.
“I wish I could have been better,” the standout running back said. “I put my head down, I stuck my head in there, I tried to clean up the dirty yard, whatever the case may be. At the end of the day, I'm my own biggest critic, so I feel like I could have helped more.” I did. [offensive] Register on Line today to help us set up our blocks better. ”
Hall has yet to rush for more than 62 yards in a game and has three touchdowns.
With a healthy Aaron Rodgers and a rebuilt offensive line, he should have had more room to play.
But so far, that's not the case.
“I wish I could have told you. [what’s wrong]. My teammates know how hard I worked. I know how much work they put into it,” Hall said. “Personally, I try to go all out 1/11 on every play, and unfortunately I don’t have a huge rushing game or anything like that.
“But I'm just trying to do my part, do my part with the pass. [protection]play your role in the play fake and communicate with Aaron [Rodgers]communication with the offensive line if you have to participate in the receiving game. Of course, I wish I could run 100 or 200 yards every game. But realistically, I'm the center of most of the defense at this point. So that's not really happening. ”
Hall was also called for two pre-snap penalties.
I'm sure he was worried about protecting Rodgers.
“When teams blitz a ton, they're trying to adjust their rhythm and other things to time their snaps,” he said. “So for me, when you have to block your opponent in the 'A' gap and you're five or six yards down and he's timing the snap, you're trying to close the space and you're trying to block him. I’m trying not to let you gain anything.’ Ground you. I think I was definitely a little nervous today because I tried to do my best in pass protection. ”
