Scientist obliterates Bill Maher’s climate change narrative

Bill Maher may generally perceive himself as a voice of reason among his fellow liberals, but in a recent segment of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” his guest One of them took the position in his place.

While Maher reiterated media talking points about the death of the Great Barrier Reef, guest Bjorn Lomborg briefly dismantled his argument.

“What will happen to the ocean? So I'm not talking about rising sea levels, I'm talking about the ocean dying. And the world can't live with a dead ocean. And , it seems to be in poor condition because it contains plastic and because it has been overfished,” Maher told Lomborg.

“I'm sure you've talked about coral reefs and said, 'Oh, that's overblown.' Tell me why you think the reef problem is overblown,” he added.

Even though Maher was confident in his lead, Lomborg was ready for it.

“It’s just data,” he retorted. “Remember, the United Nations estimates that by the end of this century, the average person on earth will be 450% richer than they are today; You end up feeling only 435% richer.”

“Yes, it's a problem. No, it's not the end of the world,” he continued, before making his point about coral reefs. “Since 1986, those who collect coral reef data each year have been assessing what the overall outcome is of how well the reefs look.”

“From 2009 to 2012, we thought this was terrible. It was really dramatic. The Guardian wrote an obituary for the Great Barrier Reef. And what I've been saying now is… , for the past three years, those areas have been at their highest level, meaning they are the deepest reefs we have ever seen in these areas,” Lomborg explained.

“Most of the challenges come from overfishing, industrial pollution and ocean runoff, and these are things we need to solve. But even if we are told that this is because of climate change, we are not well-informed. “We have to change the entire infrastructure of the global economy to protect our oceans, even though that's not really the case. It's not going to happen,” he concluded.

Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” agrees.

“If you don't give AOC the power to fix climate change, that's one of the things that AOC wants to cancel everyone and keep liberals in constant hysteria,” Rubin said.
