Travis Kelce loses bet to Patrick Mahomes – what are the terms?

Travis Kelce bet on his team and lost.

According to NFL on CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz, the NFL's star tight end made a bet with quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Saturday when his college teams played each other. Texas Tech, where Mahomes played from 2014 to 2016, defeated Cincinnati, where Kelce played from 2006 to 2010.

”[Kelce] “They have great camaraderie and chemistry,” Nantz said during a broadcast of the Chiefs' 17-10 win over the Chargers on Sunday. “They came with us last night to meet us.

“We were all excited to go home Saturday night and watch our two alma maters face off, Texas Tech and Cincinnati. It ended up being an unbelievable game, with Texas Tech winning 44-41. The Bearcats missed a 50-yard field goal” — the last time they played the game, of course, they took a little gamble. ”

If Cincinnati wins, Nantz said, Mahomes will have to wear a Cincinnati jersey and mascot head at the next team press conference. But because Texas Tech won, Kelce will have to wear a Red Raiders jersey and mascot head on the next episode of his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason Kelce.

This isn't the first time Kelce has had to wear a mascot's head in public after losing a bet. Last October, Kelce lost a bet with Chiefs vice president of public relations Brad Gee. Kelce bet on Cincinnati to beat Gee's Illinois State in last year's matchup. ISU won 30-10.

So the next week, Kelce attended the team's press conference wearing the head of ISU's mascot, Reggie Redbird.

Mahomes and Kelce have been able to afford to have some fun so far despite playing subpar statistically this season.

Despite Mahomes' passing numbers and Kelce's below-average receiving numbers, the Chiefs are off to the league's best start as the last 4-0 team in the AFC. Kansas City is aiming to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls this year.
