Seattle Storm’s Gabby Williams Quits WNBA After Controversial Take on Caitin Clark

Seattle Storm star Gabby Williams has pulled out of women's professional basketball, pointing out that even rookie star Kaitlyn Clark is not being paid enough in the WNBA.

“If I made the choice to make more money, whatever it was, the team would be upset that I wasn't coming back, but that's the reality,” she said.

Williams also refuted claims that Clark earned well over $700,000 in his rookie debut. She pointed out that Mr. Clark's salary is only about $70,000, with the rest coming from endorsements and product deals. She also hit back at those attacking her on social media.

Williams averaged 10.3 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in the 2024 season with the Storm.

She played at the University of Connecticut and graduated in 2018. Williams also played on the Olympic basketball team, but it wasn't Team USA. She played for the French national team in Tokyo in 2021, but was ineligible for the Chicago Sky because of it. When Williams missed several games and practices in the United States because she was playing with the French team in Tokyo, the Sky suspended her and traded her to the Los Angeles Sparks. She won the bronze medal that year.

Finally, Williams wore the colors of Team France at the 2024 Paris Olympics, this time winning a silver medal.
