Connecticut man accused of punching pregnant woman in carjacking attempt at Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru

A Connecticut man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a pregnant woman who tried to steal her car.

East Haven Police released a statement Wednesday after receiving a report of an attempted carjacking at a Dunkin Donuts drive-thru.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 1, when William Rodriguez, 28, pulled into the parking lot directly in front of the victim's car.

Rodriguez then allegedly got out of his car, got into the passenger side of the woman's car and demanded her keys. When the woman refused to hand over her keys, Rodriguez began beating her before the four-month pregnant woman escaped from the car and ran inside the restaurant for help.

According to police, an employee working inside the drive-thru witnessed the assault and alerted two co-workers, who ran outside and arrested Rodriguez as he attempted to flee in the victim's car. It is said that he did.

When officers arrived on the scene, Rodriguez continued to struggle and bit the medic's hand after being taken into custody.
